Welcoming 2023 with Nebuli Space: Bridging Space Tech with Circular Economy, Digital Twinning and the Metaverse.

Nebuli Space – Accelerating Enterprise Design Engineering of the Future

As we welcome 2023 in full swing, our work continues to extend across multiple industries. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, two particular sectors have been a key focus for the company: aerospace and space tech. With this, we are happy to announce the launch of our beta, research-based solution Nebuli Space (or just “Space”). Space is part of our vision of bringing the most advanced technologies to businesses and teams to accelerate their innovation activities in the post digital transformation era. Space combines space innovations, digital twins and virtual spaces to power design engineering models of sustainable habitats, circular economies, virtual environments, and space colonisation.

2022 was an exciting and busy year for our team at Nebuli with the establishment of our foundation for Space. Our team worked hard with our new partner, Yocova – the open, neutral digital platform launched in 2020 by Rolls-Royce – to access the aerospace industry for the first time. We also extended our current collaboration with the University of Leicester and NVIDIA Inception to establish a strategy for expanding our frameworks toward space tech, digital twins and the metaverse – powered by NVIDIA’s Omniverse platform.

In the summer of 2022, Nebuli was awarded funding from the SPRINT (SPace Research and Innovation Network for Technology) programme’s Mini Innovation Vouchers scheme together with the University of Leicester, with support from Yocova. The SPRINT scheme is funded by the UK Space Agency and Research England, with the aim to support collaborations between smaller enterprises and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from around the UK to promote further technology development and accelerate the route-to-commercialisation of existing concepts.

Building a data lake blueprint for space data access and integration powered by Nebuli’s Datastack Framework.

Nebuli’s Datastack enables teams and organisations to turn their segregated datasets into actionable results with easy access to Nebuli’s Augmented Intelligence algorithms, combined with multiple public-cloud AI/ML/automation tools, without repetitive software development life cycles.

Through the SPRINT project, we extended the Datastack framework to work with satellite datasets to achieve the same ease of accessibility to segregated public and private satellite datasets with specialist cloud-based AI/ML targeting the aerospace sector. The objective is to establish a new space data standard for aviation to uncover hidden trends and develop new opportunities through their trapped datasets.

Digital Twins and Virtual Spaces Framework Integrations

As we have been running our internal AIQ research project since our launch in 2019, involving building a “metaverse of smart ideas” before the world started talking about the metaverse, we kept a close eye on the Web 3.0 and the metaverse market with support from the NVIDIA Inception team with the Omniverse platform.

Our aim at this stage is to support enterprises at the early stages of adopting digital twinning and AI-powered virtual spaces (or the metaverse), and require strategic support with technological and data-related ethical and privacy concerns.

Applying Nebuli Space in Agritech and Circular Economy

Our first research and application for Nebuli Space is targeting hydroponic agriculture – growing plants in nutrient-rich water instead of soil. This field has recently gained popularity as a way to produce food efficiently and sustainably and is a vital segment of the circular economy. Using our Nebuli Space project, we are designing and optimising hydroponic ecosystems through a dedicated, AI-driven digital twin platform powered by real-time performance data from several sources, including satellite data.

Space’s hydroponics ecosystem is a digital twin platform that utilises data streams from satellite images and sensors combined with research data. Such data streams include, for example, the planetary variables of soil water content, land temperature and vegetation biomass. We published further details about this exciting research here.

Nebuli Space is about applying human-centric augmented intelligence models in modern design engineering in a world where decentralisation, virtualisation, sustainability and more intelligent economics are slowly taking precedence.

So, watch this Space!
